• The "Mom" Factor: Wolf spiders are the only spiders that carry their young on their back. If you see a spider that looks extra fuzzy, it might be a mother carrying dozens of tiny spiderlings.

Unlike house spiders, wolf spiders don't build webs to catch their dinner. Instead, they are active hunters that chase down their prey.

• Speed: They are incredibly fast. They rely on their eyesight and quick movements to grab insects.

• Where They Hide: They prefer dark, quiet places. You will often find them tucked into closets, basements, crawl spaces, or garages.

• The "Vertical" Sit: It is very common to see them sitting perfectly still, vertically on a wall or behind a box, waiting for an insect to walk by.

Despite their scary looks, wolf spiders are not a major threat to humans. Their venom is designed for small insects, not people. While a bite might cause some slight redness or itching, it isn't considered medically dangerous. Furthermore, bites are extremely rare because these spiders are shy; they would much rather run away from you than try to bite.

1. The Crawl Space   Wolf spiders love damp, dark crawl spaces because that’s where the crickets hang out. You'll often see a lot of crickets clumped together on the foundation walls, and nearby, the wolf spider can be found.

2. Power Treating the Crawl Space   Because these crickets live in such large numbers in hard-to-reach areas, a standard hand-pump sprayer usually won't cut it. We use a power treatment on the crawl space foundation walls from a skid sprayer with 300ft of hose. By wiping out the cricket population, we effectively take away the wolf spider's food source.

3. Exterior Application  Outside, we apply a heavy-duty liquid barrier and granular baits around the perimeter of your home. Wolf spiders are ground-dwellers, meaning they crawl in under door sweeps and through foundation vents. Our goal is to stop them before they ever make it to your living room.

4. Monitoring   Inside the home, we use professional-grade glue boards in dark areas like closets, basements, utility rooms and near crawl space hatches. These help us catch any stragglers and show us exactly where the spiders are trying to enter.

5. Long-Term Solutions (Homeowner Tips)   Since wolf spiders and crickets both thrive in damp environments, addressing moisture issues in your crawl space is the best way to keep them away for good. Whether it's fixing a leak, improving ventilation or installing a dehmidifier, keeping that area dry is a huge part of the battle.
